Hallo everyone

I'm running out of ideas, hope someone here can maybe help me.
I've got a problem. I have 1 SSD for the system (w10) and 4 more (internal), samsung evos (internal) connected.

Now, one of them, drive g for me, is acting up weird. I copied all pictures and movies from my phone in there (roughly 1600 files), nothing too big, no huge raw files etc.

When I open that file (with the pictures and movies inside), it takes ages to load and blocks me from doing anything in there. That means, ctrl+a is not working for example, sorting by date is not working for example, etc. (the topline which shows the path is loading (with a green bar). And the whole process takes minutes. It can't be because of the files, because when I move those to the drive c for example (more or less same type of ssd), all these actions are performed in seconds/miliseconds without problems.

I tried so far:

  • deactivating the windows search
  • deactivating indexing (right click on the drive)
  • downloaded samsung magician and did performance tests, all seems fine with writing/reading speeds
  • deactivating/activation preview of pictures/movies (right side)
Do you have any ideas what is happening here or how I can fix this?
Thanks a lot for your help in advance, cheers, Patch

I checked.
You can install up to 6 sata ssd devices so long as you do not use the m.2 ports.

Try using samsung magician to test the drive G.
It could be defective.
Try using a different sata 6gb data cable, they do differ in quality.

You might also swap ports with a different drive to see if the problem follows.
What are the ssd devices you also have installed?
The motherboard specs refer you to the user manual for sata combination details. Likely there are some limitations if you are using many devices.
There may be motherboard bios updates if you are using m.2 devices

hi geofelt

Thanks for the answer. You think I may have too many installed?
The SSDs are not m2's, just "normal" ones. These are the ones I have:

Drive C: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB (608/930gb) - system
Drive D: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB (544/931gb)
Drive E: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (433/465gb)
Drive F: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (279/465gb)
Drive G: Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500GB (158/465gb)

Thanks for your help!
