My SSD stopped booting the other day. It runs Windows 10. I had scanned the disk for errors recently because my computer restarted a few days ago. But no errors were found. The bios see only saw my second drive. My 2nd drive had problems as well as it was disappearing. I was able to restore that drive by turning off the power and rebooting. The S.m.a.r.t said the drive was bad or dying. So That one is being backed up and replaced. And when I disconnected the 2nd drive, the bios shows zero drives.

I have a sabrent hard drive connector, so I connected the main SSD externally to my Surface Pro. And I am able to see the drive and go into folders. Is there a way to repair this SSD, so I can run windows again on it? or Is it a problem with BIOS settings? Let me know if more info is needed. I do have a spare ssd from black friday.
Thank You for your help!

You could give it a try. If you're able to successfully clone the OS, you should be able to use it as a boot drive. Considering what you've already tried and what you've said it might really be a problem with the SSD itself, or the mobo. Try updating or resetting the BIOS/UEFI. You should also check for available firmware updates for that SSD model, to see if that fixes things up, as already suggested.
Try the SSD with a different computer if you have that option.
Dont think it's a BIOS prob. You can tell when a hdd is ready to die. Usually if it hangs on the post screen (after you turn it on), the computer is finding it hard to read it

And the longer it hangs, well it's pretty much screwed.

If you dont think the hdd is the prob try another cable or port. Or it could be that hdd connector. It maybe faulty. Which maybe the cause. Since the surface pro read it

Hey there, kenneyy88.

I'm with @Paul on this one. You've mentioned that you've tested the SSD recently and nothing alarming was found, having this in mind and the fact that you have no problem accessing it via another computer might mean that the HDD is the cause for that. It's not uncommon for a faulty drive to be causing such issues with your system. Try disconnecting it and use the computer with just the SSD connected to the mobo, to see if you'd be able to boot to Windows without any problems.

You could also check for available SSD update for your drive model if you still have issues booting to Windows.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I've tried another sata cable, and plugging into different ports and no luck booting the SSD with the OS. I've already removed the 3tb drive. If I try to clone the SSD, do you think the new SSD would work?
