Hi,
I am trying to install M2 with SSD ( i have two different SSDs, one is for OS and one is for data). M2 and OS SSD works fine however the other Data SSD wont get detected everytime i plug in my m2. As soon as i disconnect m2 next boot my both ssds will be detected. I m not touching any cables for obvious reasons i dont need to because m2 goes into a slot. My MB is MSI z97 gaming 5 series.

Solution
So your SATA 5 & SATA 6 ports on that motherboard get disabled as soon as an M.2 card is inserted.

Just make sure your other SATA devices are using ports 1-4, NOT 5 & 6, and it should all work fine.

Usually, 1 or more SATA ports are disabled when you use an m.2 port.

Look in your user manual to see if this is the case, and which ports are affected.

Thanks found from the manual

* The SATA5 and SATA6 ports will be unavailable when installing a module in the M.2 port.
