SSD Not Installing Windows

So I have a 480gB SSD that I found at my work, (PC repair shop) and I decided to take it home as it was going to waste anyway, and it works fine in windows, mounts correctly and read/ writes perfectly fine, but when I try to install windows to it, it goes to "Copying windows files" and sticks on 0%. I have left it for an hour or two and I do my fair share of reinstalls for people when I'm at work, but I haven't seen anything like this happen before, I would put it down to it simply being faulty, except as I said it works fine in windows. Not sure if there is any solution to this that anyone has? I have tried multiple formats and hasn't changed it.
Any suggestions are appreciated :)

Have you tried deleting the partitions ? when installing windows and you get to the part where you have to choose the disk you want to install it too, delete all partitions relating to that drive, there maybe 3 or 4 partitions, right up until the whole drive says unpartitioned space, and then select new to create a fresh new partition, and then try and install windows to it.

Also, depending on what SSD model it is, try a secure erase, this will basically reset it back to factory settings.

1. Just as an aside, why would a perfectly non-defective 480 GB SSD be "going to waste" - and in a PC repair shop of all places?!

2. I would have assumed a PC tech like yourself would have initially tested the SSD with either the manufacturer's diagnostic tool or some other SSD diagnostic program.

3. Have you tried re:installing the Win 10 setup files on another Win 10 USB Media Tool on the possibility that perhaps the flash drive you used was defective or the Win 10 download had been corrupted? Ditto in case you used a DVD installation disk.

1. It was being used as a software drive which had 7gB of storage on it and that just hurt my soul so I replaced it with an older 160gB HDD (with my boss' consent don't worry)

2. Havent tried that but I will do if you think that could help

3.I have tried both disc install and USB install with multiple USB's.
(new to this site haven't fully worked out how it works yet forgive me if this reply comes out strange)

I have deleted all partitions, what I haven't tried is a secure erase, ill give that a go.

1. No Tom, I really wasn't "worrying" - just curious about a 480 GB SSD "going to waste".
2. It's really not a matter of whether I (or anyone else) thinks running a HDD/SSD diagnostic program will be helpful in resolving the problem. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. The point here is that one of the first things (if not THE first thing) a user should undertake with a problem similar to the one you're experiencing where the problem MIGHT be the drive itself, is to initially test the drive before undertaking any other extensive troubleshooting steps. It's easy & simple to do and if you find you're dealing with a defective drive (as so often happens) you can save yourself a good deal of unnecessary work & frustration.
3. Your query/responses to this "forum" have arrived just fine.
