Hi
i bought Samsung 970 evo for my lenovo y520-15ikbn 80wk to replace my hdd with it, i disconnect the hdd and installed the ssd then when i got asked where to install the windows (from a usb) i could not find my ssd, I clicked refresh but nothing changed. The SSD is recognized in the BIOS by it's full name.
I then reconnected my hdd to see if windows will recognize it and it did! and I can even allocate it and use it, so what's the problem exactly ?
Thank you <3

Install a partition manager program like Partition Wizard Free.

Check to make sure the SSD is partitioned as GPT. If it's partitioned as MBR, Windows will not be able to boot it on UEFI systems. Windows is supposed to pop up a message informing you that this is the problem, but Microsoft has changed it up so many times that I don't know if it still does.

If it's partitioned as MBR (it can have no partitions and still be set up as MBR), then convert it to GPT. Then try installing Windows on it again.
Try turning off secure boot in the UEFI BIOS. It's usually set up so the computer can boot only off certain known devices. When you put in the SSD, the system didn't recognize it as a valid bootable device, so the Windows installer wouldn't let you choose to install on it.

it is brand new and formatted I just checked

done, still not showing in windows installation 🙁
