Hello, I recently received an Asus F555L from a friend that has an issue with hard drive detection, apparently the original hard drive failed so there is currently a Samsung Evo ssd in the drive slow which is not being detected by the bios boot menu or says ports. I have made sure the hard drive is secured and plugged in but have noticed there is a tear that runs along the ribbon cable that goes over the hard drive. I was wondering if it is definitive this would be the issue the only thing that is making me thinking it could be something else would be because it is not showing as connected in the Sata 0 port.

If you can assist me with this it would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

The ribbon cable is how it communicates to the motherboard. If it's damaged and no drive (HDD or SSD) is being detected, it's pretty near definitive to me.

The F555L has a few different variants (LA, LB, LD etc). Does your happen to have an optical drive? If so, you could remove it & attach it's SATA port to see if it detected there (probably SATA port 1)
