Question SSD not working

I just purchased a samsung 860 evo to add to my already existing pc, when I hooked everything up and power it on nothing boots up, I can see the cpu fan running but the screen is black. If I remove the ssd and power it on it works normally again. I even tried just powering it up with only the ssd hooked to the cables my hdd normally is and same thing, just a black screen. Does this mean I most likely got a bad ssd or could it be something else?

I' d try RMA-ing the SSD.

Did you install Windows on the drive?
