SSD or a 7200 Rpm HDD for GTA 5

Hi folks , I have a 5400rpm HDD that I run my games on and a SAMSUNG 840 EVO 120 gb for my OS and GTA5 is coming next week and I was wondering if upgrading to a 7200rpm HDD or another SSD will have any impact on my gaming performance since I do not have enough space to install GTA on the SSD I have right now or maybe I should save the money for a better CPU in the future ?

My system :

Intel I5 3550 3.3ghz
MSI Gtx 970
8GB of Ram at 1330
Corsair AX1200i PSU ( i know its way overkill but it was on a great sale and I needed to upgrade at the moment so )


PS : I experience a lot of stuttering when playing games like The Crew on the HDD but then again the game is from Ubisoft soo not sure its the HDD or the game .

You won't get performance beyond level and game loads, keep that in mind.
I ran GTAIV on both, and basically you just get to kill people faster, on a typical HDD it can pull assets in just fine during play.

a ssd wil mainly decrease loading times etc. but a 5400rpm hdd is really outdated. ssd's are almost cheaper than hdd's so i would recommend getting a ssd, they arent that expensive. your cpu will need updating but not that soon(if its only for gaming)

Well i would normally say the ssd will only help with load times but on a 5400rpm drive which is quite slow you may have trouble with texture pop in and maybe some stuttering at 5400rpm but im not entirely sure about that.

Didn't notice the slower drive, yes, that is pertinent to what they are saying. SSD is ultimately best if you want to make the investment, but even a 7200RPM will do fine - a 5400RPM might be lackluster.

Unless you want to spend the time cloning/reinstalling your OS, your current SSD will be fine. But it would definitely be worth it to upgrade your 5,400RPM HDD to a 7,200RPM HDD.

I think I'm gonna go with a 1TB Seagate HDD at 7200 rpm for now then . Thanks for helping .
