Hi, title says it all basically, I’ve recently built a pc and it only has 1 250gb ssd atm which has the OS and a few other apps but im looking to buy another storage device for it, I’m thinking of getting a 1 or 2tb storage drive but not sure if i should get a hdd or ssd, the main uses are mostly for college work and games, I know the differences but i wanna know what you guys recommend (im not too bothered about the prices) Thanks!

Solution
Well, you can keep the existing 250gb and just add a new drive in addition.

If you have a high budget you would have no reason to go HDD. An SSD is available and will just make "loading la faster"

This depends on your space needs and budget.

My systems? All SSD (see below).
Other people mix and match.

1TB Intel 660p for under $100 is hard to beat.
Edit: i have a budget of £100 to £200
I second this opinion.

I would sell the old SSD and replace it with a 1TB SSD since they are really cheap right now.

Is there any big differences with the 2.5inch ssds and the m.2s apart from the sizes?
What mobo and CPU are in your system?

M.2 SSDs come in 2 types. NVME (PCIe) and SATA.

Sata M.2 SSD are the same as the SATA 2.5in SSD, just different size.

NVME M.2 SSD are generally faster than SATA m.2 or 2.5 in. You won't notice a ton of difference either way.

The Intel 660p is NVME M.2 and the slightly slower Crucial MX500 is 2.5in SATA.

I have a asus rog strix b450f gaming mobo and a ryzen 3600 cpu

And the crucial ssd you suggested above is the one i have currently but it is a 250gb ssd
