Hello,

So I'm building a PC on PCSpecialist, when it comes to storage, I'm going to choose a 2TB HDD and a 120GB SSD, But it was recommended by PCSpecialist that I make the SSD the primary drive, is that a good idea or a bad one?

Firstly I recommend you get an 250GB SSD instead of 120GB as then you have room for the OS and your most used programs and one or two of your favourite games. Then have the HDD as you bulk data storage.

Having an SSD for your OS is a very good way to go as an SSD does not have any moving parts unlike a HDD (look at it as a huge USB stick) so this allows the SSD to have very high read speed. This means the everything that is stored on the SSD load a heck of a lot faster than if it was all on a HDD.

Having a HDD for the OS was okay a few years ago but now compared to SSD's nowadays a HDD is a snail speed wise.

(Small side note, make sure your motherboard has a 6GB/s SATA connectors.)

Absolutely a good idea, but...

250GB SSD instead of a 120GB.
The 120 will work, but the price vs size heavily favors the 250, the speed is slightly greater with the 250, and you won't be back in 6 months asking how to free up space on a 120..:)

6 months? I think you're a bit optimistic :)
