I'm looking to buy a Samsung 840 EVO 120gb SSD in the next week or so for my PC. I currently have installed a 2TB WD Green hard drive with Windows 8 installed on it. Is there a way to clone the windows install files to the SSD without deleting a lot of stuff from my HDD?

Solution
You can't fit 2TB of stuff into a 120GB drive.

There is only one application I know of that can move just the OS:
http://www.paragon-software.com/technologies/components/migrate-OS-to-SSD/
Not free, though.

A clean install on the new SSD is my standard recommendation.
There should be software included with the drives you buy if you get boxed version that include cables discs and couple screws and such. With the software on the disc should have a copy cloning drive options in there.

Will that not just attempt to copy everything over?

That was my point lol 700GB (what I have used up to now) won't fit on a 120gb drive, so the software bundled probably wont work.

A clean install sounds like a plan, my desktop could use a clean up anyways :)
