SSD performance really slow

Hello,

I just installed a Samsung 850 evo running Windows 10 on it. I thought about encrypting it but I decided not to until I could perform benchmarks.

As it turns out, the benchmarks on it are quite poor even for a fresh install. Here is a screenshot of the benchmarks taken with Samsung Magician:

Optimization settings:

Note I also tried Performance mode and it was roughly the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Two things come to mind:

1) What is your motherboard? If it is older and you have a SATA 2 connection you might be getting throttled by that.

2) Have you run the 'authenticate' feature in Samsung Magician to ensure it is a genuine product? We had another chap on the forum recently discover his was not, in fact, genuine and the performance was severely lacking.

Try enabling RAPID Mode in Samsung Magician.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H (rev. 1.1) and the drive checks out as genuine.

The results from AS SSD are about the same. http://i.imgur.com/eDRvwPT.png

I'll try that in a moment and see what happens.

Edit - turning on RAPID mode resulted in much higher speeds, as the name would suggest. Here are those results: http://i.imgur.com/60Pj2Ny.png

Are there any potential downsides to using RAPID mode that I should be aware of?

Thanks.
