So I am ordering an m.2 internal ssd, and I am a little confused on how ssd's work in general. I knew that I could put my games and such on them for faster loading times, but I am a tad confused on some subjects and could use some clarity. I am going to use my hdd for most things and ssd for some games. I am not sure why I need to install windows on my ssd, and when I do should I clone my hdd or do a fresh install? If a fresh install is done does it delete anything or does it just do its own seperate thing? If you need any other info let me know, otherwise I just need some help from people who know what they are doing. Thanks in advance!

I am buying an m.2, and I have some questions about some standard workings of an ssd. So I am going to use my ssd solely for putting my games on for faster loading times. I am quite confused on why I need to install an operating system, but if I do should I do a clean install or clone my hdd? If I do a clean install does it mess with my hdd, or does it do its own thing? Thanks for any answers, and if you have any questions for me please ask!

Details on the rest of your system.

Motherboard, OS, what other drives are in this...
As much detail as you can.

If you've been loading things up for more than a year a clean install will get rid of the stuff you don't need and free up some space.

Windows 10 is designed like a phone os. Everything is in the cloud and restore points. When you screw up or change hardware you restore the system from the cloud.

Measure twice and cut once. Do your research before you start.

D a search for your question and I'm sure you will find someone who has done a similar thing recently.

And for god's sake do a backup FIRST!!!!!!!
