I'm running a 4790 on a h81k-m board which I know has nothing to do with the question but I also have a 1tb HDD. My questions are (I know my board supports normal ssd) but can it support a m2 ssd and will it have problems to boot my OS from the ssd? I've seen online a lot of people have issues to boot with a ssd on h81m-k. Can someone help me out, thanks!

what about booting from the ssd on this board?

Unlikely. Which specific make/model is it?
And if it might, the m.2 port might be limited to x2 speed. Killing the benefit of an NVMe m.2 drive.

A SATA m.2 drive works exactly as fast as a regular 2.5" SSD. You gain no benefit.

I've come to the conclusion of getting a regular WD Blue 500GB SSD. Are you saying it's of no benefit on my build? And my question was people are saying it's hard to get the SSD to be the boot drive on the h81m-k. Is this true? Will it be difficult to merge my HDD onto my SSD and get it to become the boot drive?

For a board of that age, a regular SATA III SSD is just fine. You'll not notice the difference vs an NVMe drive.
The WD Blue is a good choice.
Crucial MX500 or Samsung 860 EVO are also good choices.

To use that WD Blue SATA SSD as the boot drive, the difference is the m.2 connection or the regular SATA connection.
On your board, the m.2 is problematic. Unknown if your board can actually boot from that port, if it even exists.
And again, there is no performance difference over a SATA III 2.5" WD Blue.

So I could use connect it through sata and it would boot fine? Or is it just a board issue?

I may have misstated earlier.

An SSD...the WD Blue 2.5" is fine. Encouraged. Get one.
M.2 is the issue. And an m.2 NVMe drive is even more of an issue.
