SSD RAID 0 slow write speeds

I recently moved from a single ssd to double RAID 0 setup and it seems like the write speeds are disproportianantly low. I have two 120 gb intel 330 series SSD's and am running intel ssd toolbox and rapid storage technology which should give me trim support although it's not clear from looking at the settings. I've tried turning write-caching on and off and it seems to make no difference. My sequential write speeds are in the 900mb/s range while write speeds are around 250mb/s. Any ideas?

TRIM in RAID is only available on the 7-series Intel chipsets (see article here: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/TRIM-RST-RAID-0-SSD-7-series,16898.html)

As for your write speeds, did you do a fresh installation?

And how did you setup your RAID, in Windows or in the RAID BIOS?

Yeah, I ended up having to do a fresh os install and I set up the RAID in the bios. I have a z77 chipset- does that qualify as a 7 series? Couldn't get the article link to work. I appreciate your input

I believe it is the z77 chipsets, not 100% sure.

As for the slow write speeds, try updating firmware and drivers. I had a similar issue, after updating everything my slow speeds were resolved.

So it's safe to update firmware while your drives are functioning in a RAID? So many other things (diagnostic tools, back-up software, etc.) aren't RAID friendly so I'm a little weary of doing that... Is that something you've done?

Should be fine, no issues here and I update every month or so. Just make sure important documents, pictures etc are backed up to be safe

Well actually the only download I see on the intel site for windows 7 pro 64 bit is the ssd tool box which I already have... did some more looking around in there and discovered I do have the latest drivers. Any other ideas?
