Is there any advantage to setting up an SATA SSD drive set as a Raid 0? I am putting 4 SSD drives into a system. I want to boot from the first drive and then set up the remainder as a Raid 0. Good idea...bad idea...stupid idea?

stupid idea, you'll lose everything if one of those drives fails. The only decent use case is as a very fast array for a scratch disk where you don't really care about the contents. SSDs are fast enough unless you have a specific need in mind, in which case consider pci-e for the extra speed and boot off of an ssd.
