hello all. I have a new evo 840 120gb drive that is a new windows 8.1 build. I have 2 other SSDs installed as well. All 3 are sata 6gb drives. When I boot and look at Magician, I see all the drives running in sata 6gb mode. When the Intel rapid storage driver loads, it initially tells me 6gb for all but after a minute or so, the evo drops to 3gb. I hVe tried different sata ports on the mb, different cables, different Intel drivers but with the same result. Only way I can get it to remain at 6gb is to uninstall the irst drivers and go back to the ms drivers which I rather not have to do. I am running the asus vii hero board. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated as it is driving me nuts.

Thanks for the replies. Yes it is and I also read that this issue can be caused on ASUS MB's when hot pluggable is disabled so I enabled that as well which didn't fix it. Yes I benchmarked it with results for seq read/write in the mid 200's.

Generally they do not perform as well plus when I run them I get the retired errors in the event log.

"The IO operation at logical block address 0x34b4b50 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\00000037) was retried."

Starting to wonder if the drive is the problem. Was purchased less than a month ago. BTW, fast start is enabled.
