i installed a Samsung 850 EVO 250GB in my HP Pavillion 11X360 laptop. I downloaded the userbenchmark program and it stated that the drive is performing below potential. It suggest that I ensure that it is connected to a SATA 3.0 port. The connecting cable fits the drive. Do I have to get something to get a 3.0 port? I'm lost here. Maybe it the wrong drive.

Solution
Check the BIOS utility in that laptop (usually F10 at bootup for HP) for a SATA setting. On my laptop (a Toshiba) setting SATA mode from power efficient to Performance made a big change in benchmark speeds.

Also, don't make too much of those scores. Even with that switch made in the BIOS, there wasn't a huge difference evident in ordinary use. The move from HDD to SSD itself makes a huge difference.
