SSD sata or PCi-E

why is SSD pci-e so much more expensive than the sata ones?
does the windows index read the SSD as an SSD from the sata? (I know a mate whos got a sata but on index it gives him 5.9 for his HDD lol)

also whats my best option in relation to getting a SSD?
big or small?
just OS or OS and a few games / files?
Is doing a defrag on them still as bad as it was when they first come out?
Also the programs that boot with the computer i.e plex media center etc. is it best to have them on the SSD too as if they are still on the HDD then it will be just as slow to boot?

pci e ssd are way faster since the pci e bandwidth is bigger than serial ata (sata) thus delivering more files faster than the sata ssd .. windows detects both as just drives with letters no special names are there or anything .. just the subscore and overall performance will be higher .. installing games on the ssd will slow it down as would the hdd but even with a slow down the ssd is still way faster than a freshly formatted hdd ..

Well just like anything the newer technology costs more. Pci-E is a new standard and provide better performance because the data channel greater. Well the best option is to go as big as you can afford. SSD's had a reputation that you shouldn't use apps that write alot but the even with that the lifetimes of SSD's are longed then you would keep that specific PC. You don't defrag a SSD it can do more harm then good. Defragging is for HD's in th way it writes to the disk. Basically when you save a file on HD it saves it an free spot and it that spot isn't big enough for the dat your saving it saves the rest of the file to the next blank spot. When you defrag it takes all these fragmented files and puts them together. If all files are in sequence then the retrieval is faster. SSD write to the SSD in a different way and they use what is called TRIM.
