SSD Sata power pins - broken?

I bought a Toshiba Q-Series 256gb SSD from Newegg; it arrived yesterday. I'm not too familiar with components, but the last two pins on the outer edge of the SATA power connector look a bit short, like they're supposed to extend a bit further up.

Are they broken? Is it safe to plug in? I haven't tried it yet because I'm worried it will melt or catch fire or something when I turn on the power.

If they are short but not bent, go for it.

The outer pins on one side are for 3.3 volts(never seen a drive need it) and 12 volts(your short pins would seem to be those) on the other. SSDs on use the 5 volt pins near the center of the connector(as do all notebook drives I have seen).

no they are not broken...it is by design.

it is perfectly safe to plug it it.
