SSD showing as hard drive on pc

Hi i installed an ssd in pc, but its showing up on the defragment program as a harddrive how do i change it so it know its an ssd?
i've tried different codes in command but its not working...

Yes i know, but the pc thinks its a hard drive not an ssd

If your on windows 7 using an AM3+ cpu or older setup, it will see the ssd as an hdd. What’s your hardware? I had that issue before.

Then it’s your setup. You’re hardware is too old to recognize it as an ssd. You’ll still have the speed benefit but you won’t be able to trim. I guess even windows 10 doesn’t help it recognize it

i know my specs are pretty old, but it works fine for me at the moment, but i am planning to upgrade in the future.
my motherboard is the asrock n68c-s ucc

Yep. Too old. If you were on an AM3+ setup you might be able to if it was the high end ones. Sorry buddy

Try running windows system assessment (storage syb-system assessment is important here).

From elevated command prompt execute:

• winsat formal

After that restart your pc. Your drive should be identified correctly after that.

I did that sort of thing before on my old am3+ setup and it never worked until I switched to fx970 motherboard. I had a low end crappy motherboard just to have a working computer.
