SSD slowing down

So a few months ago, I bought a 256 GB Adata Premiere Pro, with a so called "500 Mb Write Speed." From other customers, their reviews have been saying that they got 7.8 or 7.9 on WEI. On mine however, I started at a 7.8, and it slowly went down to a 7.2 score.

Check in the bios and make sure your controller is set to AHCI and not IDE. The performance (and thus WEI score) will decrease over time under IDE as you will not have access to certain features of your drive such as TRIM.

Changing the controller to AHCI and reinstalling windows should bring your score back to 7.8

I have about 120 GBS left of storage, would moving large files onto my HDD improve preformance? And can I just turn on AHCI without reinstalling bios? I enabled TRIM in the command prompt, or should I just do a clean install?

Moving files off the drive wont solve your problem.

You can edit your registry to switch to AHCI but a clean install of windows is STRONGLY recommended.

You will need to change the following regkey to 0 and reboot:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Msahci

It probably wont make your score go back up but it should stop it from falling all the way to 5.9

Start -> Run -> regedit

You can also use the Windows Key + R to open the run prompt if it is not listed in your start menu.

If you just change it in the BIOS without editing your registry first, you won't get into windows. It will just crash over and over until you go back to IDE.

I just looked at it, msahci isn't there. I located mrsxb20, the folder above, but msahci simply isn't there. I looked down the rest of the list, but no avail...

Double check your BIOS and make sure which mode you are in now.

It's important to not that all you are doing in windows is telling it to "reintroduce" itself on the next start up. You must restart and go straight to your BIOS and change the BIOS to AHCI mode before the next time you boot to windows. (Other wise windows will set itself up for IDE again, and you are back to square one)

Download AS SSD, install and run. Do NOT need to run benchmark. Just look at uper left and it ill show:
SSD make and Model and FW ver (Allways use the latest firmware).
Driver: You will probably see "pcide = BAD"
Partition alignment, you want to see "OK"

Enabling TRIM Cmd does NOT mean working as if controller is pcide it will not be passed to SSD.

First set go to link and select either "Fix it for Me" or "let me fix it myself"

Then reboot , enter Bios and change IDE -> ahci.
Wait several days and retest, your WEI should be back up.
