SSD Speed Help

Hi guys, and girls. So my brother and I just built our own PCs and we both have a SSD in our build. My brother has a Kingston SSDNow V300 and I have a Kingston HyperX Savage (SSD). According to SSDboss, mine should be a bit faster but mine ISN'T. Today, I turned both of our PC on at the same time, his got into the login screen about 5 seconds faster than mine! His actually got into the login screen while mine was still at the black screen with the Windows logo starting to come together. I am so annoyed by this, my OS is on the SSD. We are both running on Win7.

I don't know if this matters but heres my PC specs....

Asus ROG Crosshair V
AMD FX 9590
Asus STRIX R9 390x
Kingston HyperX Savage (8GB x2)
Kingston HyperX Savage SSD
WD Blue (1TB x2)

Any help or advice would be appreciated

Hey there, nismo_z!

I'd recommend you to check if you have the latest firmware update for your SSD model ( http://www.storagereview.com/how_upgrade_ssd_firmware ).
Make sure that the SATA mode for the SSD is set to AHCI and that it's in fact connected to a SATA III port on the motherboard. I guess it might also be a good idea to check for any SATA controller driver updates on your motherboard manufacturer's website.
I'd also suggest you to check this thread about some third-party SSD diagnostic utilities and check up on the transfer rates and SMART status: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1926483/ssd-diagnostic-tools.html

For some reason, Kingston's updating program doesn't detect any drives in my PC. My SATA is set to AHCI. My motherboard only has SATA III ports (Asus ROG Crosshair V Formula-Z). I have the latest SATA controller driver.

I don't know much about SSD but heres a screenshot of my SSD info on "CrystalDiskInfo 5.6.2"....

Hey there again, nismo_z!

Check the link about SSD diagnostic utilities I shared with you in my previous post. The utility you tested the SSD with is actually its HDD equivalent.
As for the SSD manufacturer's utility, since it's not detecting the drive, you should definitely try a different SATA cable or port with it. It seems like one of these is not functioning properly, thus your SSD is not supplied with enough power in order to be properly recognized.

Give the SSD diagnostics and swapping the cable/port a try and let me know how it goes!
