SSD Temperature reporting at 54 degrees C.

I have a Crucial MX300 Solid State Drive. It's reporting 54 degrees C right now while Idle. I just downloaded speccy so I never knew until now. Computer is about a month old, including the SSD.

Is this normal? Speccy is showing the color as orange indicating it's approaching dangerous levels. How do I reduce the temp of an SSD? It doesn't have a cooler or anything and my case airflow is otherwise fine.

54C is a tad warm, especially under idle. Optimum temperatures are in the 40's when under load. If you can, have a fan blow directly onto it.

Here is a picture. Nothing is really near it. The GPU is above it but the fans aren't even on at idle so it's not like they're blowing hot air on to it. You can see my other m.2 slot in the image but that is even closer to the GPU so if anything it'd make the temp worse.

How could I get a fan to blow on it. Do they have really tiny fans I could set up to just blow on the ssd? It's not in a spot where I could have a regular case fan blow air on it I don't think.

Ahhh....the m.2's have a tendency to run a bit warm. It's sitting right on the motherboard.

M.2 makes airflow a little more complicated. Unless you have a fan mount on your side panel that's right above your SSD, there's no way to add any more airflow without modding your computer case. USAFRet is right. It's not worth the trouble. Best just leave it.

If I just leave it am I going to be shortening the lifespan of my drive and increasing the likelihood of it failing? I have my data backed up on a hard drive but I don't want to have to spend the money for a new SSD any time soon.

For various values of "soon", all drives die.

This probably isn't shortening its lifespan.

The temperature is a bit warmer than usual, but lifespan won't be affected. So long as you don't go into some crazy high temperatures like the high 70s or 80s, you should be just fine.

Okay thanks guys I guess I'll stop worrying about it then since it's out of my control. Thought maybe I installed it incorrectly or something.
