My computer broke and I’m buying another one in a couple weeks. I have the SSD in the computer that broke. I want to know if I put the SSD in the new PC and boot it up, will it normally boot up Windows or am I gonna have to install Windows from the start?

Solution
The possible outcomes.

  • You boot and everything is fine. You install the new chipset drivers and you have no issues whatsoever.
  • It doesn't load Windows at all.
  • It loads Windows but you chase issues forever.

I recommend a new Windows 10 install. You can try if you want before you do.

Solution
What broke on the old pc?

If all you need is windows, do a new clean install.

If it is a nasty job to reinstall your apps and settings, give a try in seeing if
you can boot.
If you can boot, install the drivers that are appropriate to the new motherboard.
