Hi, I just got a new Samsung 970 EVO NVMe M.2 1TB

My current set up is using a Samsung 850 Pro 256 GB

I read on Samsung’s site that it’s better to do a clean install of windows opposed to cloning the old one because the registry information is different... it may affect performance or cause compatibility issues?

Is this true? And if so, if I do clone my drive, can I simply reinstall windows after that if I encounter problems?

Solution
If you're changing motherboard, then reinstall is recommended (sometimes unavoidable).
If you're just upgrading from sata SSD to NVME SSD, then it might be possible to achieve with clone.

This actually also depends on OS being used. Windows 7 for example also requires some specific hotfixes and nvme drivers to be installed.
