Question SSD Upgrade for my laptop

Hi,

i have the following laptop: https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GL72M-7REX/Specification

with Core i5-7300HQ, 8GB RAM, 1TB HDD, GTX 1050 4GBand an optional 1x M.2 SSD slot (NVMe PCIe Gen3 / SATA ) and am looking to expand upon it with a SSD HD (i´m thinking at least 500GB so i don´t have to worry about it for some time).

What would be a good fit?

IMO the Samsung is a better drive over all. The 970s are one of the best out there for me.
But, the speed difference between the two I don't think you will notice much. So it comes down to how much you want to pay.

The Kingston will still be a good drive but cost you nearly €40 less.

What is it that you want it to do for you? Increase boot time or loading games etc?

Boot time and loading games, a bit of a performance boost all around.

Also i thought it would help me in game loading screens because some ppl reported that the games run smoother.

I have no problem with money, those 2 were just examples and i would rather spend 40 Euros more than settle because it´s not a lot of cash.

Any other SSD recommendation?

Personally I use WD SN500 drives in both the systems in my house. But, my son has a small cube system that just runs a SATA SSD, a cheap WD green one and I don't notice a massive difference in the load times if I am honest.

Intel P series drives also get good nods on here, Pioneer did a decent NVMe I heard.

I have also heard good things about Sabrent Rocket drives, never used one, but a few people I know have them and say they are good. The 500Gb comes in at around £60 GBP on Amazon, not sure if they are available in your area. I might get one for my son's main gaming system as he has nearly filled the WD that he has.

But if money is no object then Samsung 970s are very, very good.

Go with the M2 Samsung 970 1 or 2 TB for the best, Samsung is pretty bullet proof.
