[SOLVED] SSD Upgrade Help Required

Hi, I have a desktop PC with a M5A97 EVO R2 motherboard - with 2 x PCle 2.0 x 16 slots, 2 x PCle 2.0 x 1 slots and 2 x PCl expansion slots.

I use the device mainly for photo image storage and processing.

I have my graphics card installed on one of the PCle 2.0 x 16 slots.

The MB has 6 x SATA 6GB/s ports with RAID 0,5 and 10 support. And, 2 x eSATA 6GBb/s ports.

The system currently boots from a Samsung 840 EVO 250GB SSD connected to one of the SATA ports.

What would be the best high performance option for a 1TB (or 2TB) SSD,to host my photos on the device, given the above specs?

I was looking at the Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1 TB NVMe M.2 - but, I'm not sure about whether it would physically install on my MB, or be compatible with it?

Any advice offered is appreciated.

I would just add a 1 TB or 2 TB SSD to one of the SATA 6GB/s ports.

I'm running a Crucial MX500 and a couple Samsung 860 EVOs and no problems. I think the Samsung might be rated a bit better and it also seems a bit more popular.

I contacted Samsung support, and they advised some Samsung SSDs such as the SSD 860 EVO can experience compatibility issues with AMD controllers and also with some ASMedia storage controllers.

Does anyone have experience of this - and, is there a workaround?
