SSD Usage always at 100%

I have a Super Talent 64GB SSD and I have installed my OS, Chrome, and all the Microsoft C++ Redistributables on it. The SSD is always is at 100% usage when it seems it's not really doing anything. This makes my OS very laggy and slow. Any suggestions?

Continue disabling apps one by one to see if the disk usage drops. May well be some combination of circumstances.

And continue using Resource Monitor to observe what all is running and what resources are being consumed by each app.

Remember that you can right click processes in some of the Resource Monitor tabs to "End Task".

If you "End Task" the problem software disk usage should immediately drop and hopefully your system will remain stable.

Do not "End Task" anything without some idea of what it is and what it may be doing. Some processes are easily recognized. Others not so much.

Failing that at least uninstall Chrome. Clean your PC with CCleaner to recover disk space.

Reinstall Chrome.
Could be there is some buggy software being launched at startup.

Take a look at what all is running on your system.

Use Task Manager, Performance Monitor, and Resource Monitor to identify what application, process, or service is consuming the SSD "resource".

Should stand out very clearly.

Once you have identified the culprit then the next step is finding and implementing a fix.

In task manager, it is usually Chrome or System using all of the resources. In Resource Monitor, it is usually again Chrome or System, or even the pagefile.

I wish I could install Chrome on a separate hard drive (if that will lower disk usage), but I can't. Same thing goes for all of the Microsoft C++ Redistributables.

Another thing I think I should add is I have disabled many services (e.g., Superfetch, and most of the Xbox services).

Does disk usage drop when Chrome is closed?

Is Chrome being launched at startup?

Boot with minimal applications and then open Chrome. Watch the disk usage and then start opening other applications that are normally launched at boot time or open by you thereafter.

The overall idea being to attribute the 100% disk use to Chrome either on its own merits or when running with some other application.

Chrome is not launched on startup, I disabled that through Task Manager.

When I open chrome, disk usage immediately spikes to 100% and just stays there. Same thing if I open any other app in Windows (e.g., settings).
