I'm about to make my first build and I'm suddenly torn between getting a:

1TB Seagate barracuda 7200RPM HDD
120GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD

Or:

I could go with another option:

250GB Samsung 840 EVO SSD (Same one just bigger)

Now the first option costs the same as the second option, what should I choose?

Solution
Are you planning to install all of them or just some, like 5-6? If you are only going to play some of them for a few weeks, then you may not have problems with a 250GB SSD, then again it depends on their size, so try to figure out how much the games you will be installing will take and add them up? If it is within the limit, then you can get that 250GB SSD for now and get a HDD later so you can have more storage for your favorite games on the SSD and leave the ones that you don't play as much onto the HDD when you get it.
If you don't have neither, then go for the 1st one, you'll need the extra space for later if you ever decide to get more games or whatever else that requires more space. You can still put the OS and a couple games on the SSD while using your HDD as backup if you need more space for the games you don't play much.

There is only one question here that mathers:
do you need 1 TB as storage? if you need 1 TB of storage, then you should go with the HDD, or buy 1TB of SSD storage 😉.
Otherwise, go with the 256GB SSD 😉

edit. and ofc i got confused about the title. The first option is good, but, as a owner of a 120GB SSD, i can tell you that nowdays, it is getting very small , considering that some new game titles ask for 35GB+ of free space

I don't have either, I currently have a lousy laptop that basically has everything I want/need minus many games I intend to get. What I'm worried about is that since I've have most of the stuff I need/want minus games, my laptop HDD says that I have only used up 86GB of my hard drive. So I'm wondering if all that extra space with the 1TB and 120GB SSD is just going to be sitting there doing nothing whereas I could get a 250 GB SSD for the same price.

Well, like wolverine said, unless you are "absolutely" sure you won't go over 200GB of space until the time you can get another one, then you should get the 250GB SSD if you are really sure about it.

Does it look like I'm sure about this decision? I'm asking random people on a forum who I hope they know what they're talking about. By the way, you can put multiple SSD's in a case connected to a motherboard right?

How are we suppose to know what happens in the future? I know there are computer experts in this forums, but I don't think there's mind readers here that knows what you will do tomorrow or months from now and if you will get this or that and use more space later or it will stay the same. And yes, you can add more SSDs or HDDs later.

Well new games come out all the time, I don't even know how many games I will have it's got nothing to do with "mind-reading" But I'm wondering whether 250GB is enough for steam and my games, as well as OS etc. I don't have many other software on my laptop and I'm using 86GB of hard drive space.

That will depend on the games, some may take 15GB, some may take up to like to 60GB, so it depends on what games you play or want to play.

Jesus, what kind of game would eat up 60GB of hard drive space?

Okay stuff it I'm going for the 1TB HDD and the 120GB SSD, SSD for the boot drive and key applications and maybe a couple of games if there is room.

Well, how many games do you think you will play and have in total for...let's say a couple weeks. By then you will have enough money to get a HDD if you feel you need more space. A list of games may be helpful or future games that you are planning to get.

Probably 10-20 fairly big steam games. Have like 2 favourites on an SSD or something

Oh yes, I'm definitely installing every single one of them, but I think I've made up my mind thanks.
