You're confusing the terms a little bit.
SSD = Solid State Drive
m.2 is simply the physical format

An m.2 drive IS an SSD. It may be either SATA (860 EVO), or NVMe (970 EVO or that MP300)
An SSD may also be 2.5" physical format.

What are the full specs of this system?
What other drives do you have?

You're the only one who can determine which is better for you.
For me? I wouldn't suck up the NVMe port with a second rate drive.
