SSD VS Ram Upgrade

I have a white macbook with 2gb of ddr2 ram.

Im thinking about upgrading the ram or getting an ssd.

I can upgrade it to 4gb of ram or get a corsair force series 128gb ssd.

I was just wondering which choice will give me the biggest performance upgrade.

I use it for basic functions, internet browsing, netflix, microsoft office.

more memory at a faster speed and you will notice that more in web surfing. You didnt tell us the speed of your DDR2 memory. A SSD is just the library, with a fast read/write your programs and applications will load faster as well as system start up. DDR2 PC2-8500/DDR2-1066 is the speed you want.

Both internet browsing and netflix is related with the intelnet speed.
And when you use the SSD, only thing is open the program fast and boot the mac faster too.
You use the macbook for basic things then 2GB is fine. Maybe just get the SSD if you have some money to spend.

2Gb really isn't that much for modern normal computer use, I would at least get the 4Gb.

EDIT: wow, mac RAM is expensive! Do you have one slot or two for RAM?

2 slots, 4gb goes for like 70 on newegg

as long as it is an Intel based Macbook (I believe they all are), then just take a look at what is running in there now. If it's DDR2 800Mhz (PC2-6400), then just buy another 2GB stick and call it a day. PC2-8500 (1066Mhz) is really just overclocked PC2-6400, and chances are, that your MacBook doesn't support that memory speed anyway. Since Apple/Mac uses Intel hardware now, there is really no such thing as "Mac memory", that's just a sales pitch to allow companies to sell the same memory for 1.5 to 2 times as much to Apple users, who are used to paying more for everything. Here's 2GB DDR2-800 for $25: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313041 If you have 533 or 667Mhz memory in there now, just get 2 of them and there you go, for $50 you should get a relatively noticeable increase in performance, especially when multitasking.
