Hey guys, I have a question about my 60gb ssd (ocz agility3).

After installing the OS I made sure to install all my other major programs and games on a different hard drive but I'm still running out of space. It was at about 9GB free for a while but recently it has dropped to 4.5GB and I'm not sure why. I ran ccleaner and tried to disk check. The check completed but on reboot it will always give me a black screen with a cursor so I guess the disk check is actually failing?

Anyway is there something I'm doing wrong or that I can do to fix this? There is only about 500mb on my desktop and program files have around 5GB. The windows folder shows about 30GB.

The main problem this causes (aside from sweating about running out of space constantly) is that when I run CS6 with anything larger than simple images it will eat up the remaining disk space pretty much instantly.

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Solution
Delete system restore points. Limit the amount system restore can take or turn it off to use manual backup. If you are not storing large amounts of things on your SSD, lower the size of the recycle bin. If you don't hibernate, turn it off and delete hiberfil.sys. Also move the page file to your HDD.

I never install anything on it, at least not in recent memory. I have another programs folder on a different drive.

I tried what you suggested but the system restore only freed up a couple hundred mb. The recycle bin is usually empty but I lowered the value anyway, and I have never used hybernate so I don't even have a hiberfil.sys file :/

Does windows usually take up this much space?? There's only a 270mb on my desktop and I'm now at 5.2GB free out of 60...

I just checked my parents computer. My dad has my old laptop and it has a 120GB SSD in there with Windows 7 HP. It takes up 26.3GB for Windows installation and some lite programs (Firefox, AV, Libre Office, etc). My mom has the desktop I build for her earlier this year on Windows 8.1 Pro with same programs as dad's laptop and it's only taking 18GB out of a 64GB SSD.

My bad Pyree, you were totally right. I forgot about the pagefile earlier when I was checking. It was pretty big and I now have 20gb free. From how much space windows is using on your parents computers it seems about right for mine.

Thanks a lot :)
