Moving an OS drive from one system to another frequently does not work. At all.Hi, I have an SSD from my sisters Asus A407U with windows 10 and all of her files in it. I want to use that SSD in my Acer Nitro but it's not recognized as boot device.
The Asus is dead, so I need to move it to the Acer. Can you guys help me?
Is there any way to make the SSD work in the Acer? Maybe installing new OS without erasing other data?Moving an OS drive from one system to another frequently does not work. At all.
To boot from it, not really. Is there any way to make the SSD work in the Acer?
It has all of her college related data. We're trying not to buy new laptop or take it to a repair shop to save money, so this is the only way i can think of.To boot from it, not really.
What is your overall goal with this drive and its data?
What specific types of drives are involved here? Make/model.
Presumably, your laptop has its own drive and OS?It has all of her college related data. We're trying not to buy new laptop or take it to a repair shop to save money, so this is the only way i can think of.
The SSD model is NVMe ADATA SX6000LNP.
Okay then, I'll just move the data to my SSD and fresh install her SSD. Thank you for your help!Presumably, your laptop has its own drive and OS?
Get an external USB adapter, connect her drive in that, and retrieve the desired files. (not programs, just files)
Or preferably, connected internally in a desktop system with a free M.2 NVMe port.
Booting from it in a foreign laptop (your Acer) is pretty much out of the question.
And for future reference, this could all have been prevented with a proper backup routine.
Your data should never be at the mercy of a single drive or system.
Good luck.Okay then, I'll just move the data to my SSD and fresh install her SSD. Thank you for your help!
