SSD Won't boot up with OS on it if my HDD is plugged in that had my old windows on it that was wiped

Ok I bought a SSD and I transfered windows onto it and now i have a start up error "select correct boot device" and if i go into my bios and just hit "discard changes" it will boot windows and i just recently unplug the HDD to see if my ssd will boot by itself and it wont. Do i format my HDD that had my previous windows on it that was wiped when i got my ssd? or if you have any other ideas shoot'em my why please!

Go to bios, set boot primary boot device to hard disk. Set the primary to the new SSD. try that.
