I have a roughly 2 month old SSD from PNY (PNY CS1311 240GB SSD) and it won't format. It just says "Windows cannot format this drive. Quit any disk utilities using the drive or windows showing the drives contents..." I've tried using disk management to format the drive, but the option is grayed out.

The drive had a few games on it but now it's completely empty.

Rig:
Intel Core i7 4790k CPU
MSI B85m Gaming MOBO
WD Blue 1TB HDD
EVGA 500W PSU
Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x4GB RAM
XFX R9 380X GPU
PNY CS1311 240GB SSD

Solution
Hey there, Kingsley_3.

So I assume you're using the WD Blue drive to boot to Windows?

You should try the SSD with a different SATA port and different cables, or even better - with a different computer to see if the same thing happens. You could also download an SSD diagnostic tool and test the drive for errors, to see if there's anything out of the ordinary.

This is a pretty strange issue, having in mind it's not your OS drive, so please let me know how everything goes.
