I've got a few SSD's for my new machine (1x 850 evo @ 250GB, 1x 850 evo @ 500GB, and 1x 840 evo @ 500GB--the last one is being recycled from an old laptop).

I plan on using the 850 250GB for my OS and main/daily-use programs and using the 850 500GB as my main working drive. I've got two 2TB disk drives that I keep all of my pictures/movies/music on. I'd like for the 840 to just consistently update with the 850 incase one or the other ever decides to eat the dust.

I guess what I'm getting at is that it's VERY IMPORTANT that I do not lose the data on my working drive at any point.

How do I set this up to be an automatic procedure? I don't want to have to swap drives in/out and copy my drive over once a week or whatever.

Should I go get another 500GB SSD or regular disk-drive to serve as a second backup?

Just to confirm you want the 850 500GB to back up to the 840 500GB.

This is simple its RAID 1 configuration, you can do this in the BIOS on some systems or in windows, Here is a how to for Win 7:

Win 8/10:

Both drives will be identical. If one takes a dump, the other will still work, then you can replace the dead drive and it will sync back into the array.

How, depends on what exactly you want to back up.

The OS, applications, and all the files on that source drive? Macrium Reflect or Casper will do a whole disk image, on whatever schedule you set. To whatever drive you want.

Or just your personal files? Syncback Free will do that, on whatever schedule you set, to whatever drive you want.
