[SOLVED] SSDs should be default boot drive on manufacturer models

With the price of SSDs and particular the cost of NVME drives being so much more reasonable, why do manufacturers like Dell STILL not install SSDs as the default boot drives? Why even bother with a storage drive?

Even on $1,100 systems, they usually don't have them, or if they do, they are no more than 256 gb. They should be a minumum of 512 gb and really 1 tb drives are cost effective now.

They will eventually. It takes time to switch around production and product lines.
But here's a shocker...a LOT of people won't notice the difference.

And even at retail prices, a 1TB SSD for $130 or a 1TB HDD for $45...that makes a lot of difference on the overall sticker price on the store shelf.
Cost is still an issue to laptop & desktop PC manufacturer's --- byte for byte compared to a traditional HDD (especially high capacity ones).

I've noticed they are gradually starting to introduce an SSD as an extra cost option though, but don't expect full changeover to SSD until SSD/HDD price parity arrives.
