SSHD not being recognised by Motherboard. Tried everything...

I had trouble connecting this 1 month old SSHD to my computer previously and decided to upgrade my components.

I purchase a brand new PSU , Motherboard , CPU , SSHD (x2), sata cables .

Everything went together beautifully and all was working perfectly on my old 160gb HDD. (Don't ask!)
So... motherboard -> sata cable -> SSHD ... are all brand new. Annoyingly the SSHD is not being recognised. I purchased a second SSHD and returned the last one because I thought it was faulty. This SSHD isn't working either.

If I plug my 160gb HDD in with the same sata / power cable it works fine. But these two brand new SSHDs will not connect.

They do not show in my motherboard's boot options and the slots say 'empty'. Disk management shows nothing. I tried some UBCD applications but none showed the SSHDs. It does not appear when I try to run the windows 8 or windows 7 installation from disc. I've also tried looking at flashing my BIOS but I have no idea what I'm supposed to download . The same SSHDs were also not connecting on my old motherboard and CPU.

The PSU is <1 month old.

I have no idea what else I can try.

Thank you for reading!

EDIT!:
I have both SSHDs plugged in and 1 of them has been detected! But I cannot initialize it. 🙁

Welcome to the community, windows vs linux!

This seems pretty unfortunate! 🙁 Have you tried those new SSHDs in another computer though? I'd recommend you to do this and see how they will get recognized there. I'd also swap between the SATA cables on the motherboard and make sure you've got the lates firmware update for the drives. I'd also check if you've got the SATA ports enabled in BIOS and the SATA mode set to AHCI.
If that doesn't work, another thing you should try is resetting BIOS by re-seating the CMOS battery or resetting the jumper on the motherboard. (http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS ) This will get your BIOS settings back to factory defaults, so make sure you know how to re-configure them.
Might be a good idea to...

Might be a good idea to scan the SSHDs for issues using their manufacturer's diagnostic tool.

Keep me posted! Hope this helps! :)
