SSHD Quagmire Dilemma

this isn't a question..i'm actually stating that Western Digital FINALLY admitted that the WD10S21X & the WD10J31X will NEVER work with WD Boost & would've never worked with WD Boost..only 2 laptop drives WILL work..1) the WD10S12X & 2) the WD10J13T. i'd forgotten that i had a 12X installed in one of my PCs..(laughing)..so yesterday? i said "what the heck"..i tried to installed WD Boost..but i kept getting a non-cache error (error#24)..i went to disk management & deleted a 35GB partition with nothing in it..once i did that? i tried to re-install the WD Boost & it did it..once i rebooted my PC?? THE SPEED INCREASE WAS CLEARLY NOTICEABLE..i'm looking for the 13T right now..(that one has a 24GB Cache..I NEED THAT!! LOL..so remember everyone..the 21X & the 31X will NOT work with the WD Boost..only the 12X & the 13T WILL work..so after 1 1/2 years of WDC BS'ng everyone..the truth comes out..& i'm actually enjoying the Boost..(i'm using a Toshiba Satellite L505D-LS5003)..Windows 7 SP1 64Bit..1TB HDD, 8GBs of RAM, did some tweaking (MSCONFIG)..it was still a little slow until i used the WD Boost..once i did THAT!!?? it's pretty fast..ok..if anyone has a question..hit me up..i tried to answer a person with a 13T drive..but some genius here closed the thread because ALL of the answers on the site were WRONG!! emphatically wrong..LOL..thank you all in advance..Peace..& God bless you & yours..

Greens?? i have NO idea what THAT is..(laughing & shaking my head)..all that i know?? is that i have a 6-7 year old PC that runs like an SSD is in it because of the WD Boost..before it would take 5-10 seconds for Google Chrome to startup..NOW!!?? under 2 seconds..Boot time: 2 minutes..now?? 25 seconds..so?? that's all i know, Greens..(smiling)..now if you can explain the ATTO or/and the Crystal thing? maybe i can help out..(i actually have another HDD with this OS on it..thank you for writing to me..Peace..& God bless..

ATTO and Crystal Diskmark are utlities to actually test your drive performance.
This eliminates the possibility for the placebo effect.

Unfortunately SSHDs are considered garbage here on Tom's - they aren't worth the iron they are made of.

Get a HDD or an SSD, an SSHD is just a gimmick.

The reason i'd like you to test the performance using a reputable and accurate disc tool is so that others here on the forum do not get the false impression that SSHDs are superior to standard hard drives - they actually provide worse performance when it comes to reading and writing. Not only are they slower to read and write than a standard HDD, but the SSD performance is absolutely abysmal. Even if you do have it set up and it works perfectly, the performance gain compared to a real SSD is absolutely laughable.

SSHD are not advised in any system, for any use case, by any expert.

Greens?? what you're saying makes SOME sense (if you're just looking for stats online)..but in MOST cases..(& this one being that case)..the "bad name" on SSHDs is just wrong..i appreciate you clearing up the ATTO & Crystal thing though..(i had NO idea what that was)..LOL..thank you..(smile)..but back to what you were saying..SSHDs are just as good as ANY HDD..& better than MOST HDDs..yes..only an SSD will beat a 7200rpm HDD..but for the MOST part..a 5400rpm will do..see?? unlike most people..i don't listen to experts..i listen to people who are in the trenches doing research..every expert on here said that SSHDs are garbage..& that's a CUTE thing to say..but where are usages..where are your FACTS?? show me an example of your claim..i've shown my claim & proven my claim in LAYMAN'S TERMS!! LOL..so yeah..i'd rather listen to a layman who's done the actual work than rely on stats..i also have SSDs..& yes..they're very fast..if you're doing gaming..then SSDs are perfect for you..you can even do a 7200RPM HDD..editing media will require one of these drives too..now??!! i agree with you about the HYPE of SSHDs..it's nothing to go bonkers about..but i just feel that people aren't doing their fact-finding..if i tell you that 1) only 3 drives will work for the WD Boost software..this means that i've done the work..2) if i tell you that the speed increase is exponential?? this ALSO tells you that i've done the work..and 3) if i go thru step by step how to get the Boost running..THIS MEANS THAT I'VE DONE THE WORK!! LOL..so i hardly EVER pay attention to the experts..(espsecially on here)..no one's doing the work..no one's burning the oils at night..(old school)..LOL..they (a moderator on here) closed down a thread that could've been helpful to someone regarding their SSHD..(& possibly to me because he might've wanted to sell the SSHD to me)..LOL..& honestly..that's the ONLY SSHD drive i've never owned..so those are my thoughts, Greens..i don't listen to an expert until i see proof that he/she is indeed an expert..(nothing starts from the periodic table)..LOL..hit me back..& again..thank you..Peace..& God bless..

Answer threads that are less than two months old from the final post, particularly if they are already marked as solved.

An answer a year and a half after the thread is marked solved that gets a new post will always be closed by a moderator, as such a post is not worthwhile and will not help anyone.

One other tip, it helps readers if you can use paragraph breaks.
