Hey there!
I've encountered an annoying issue with Stlaker 2 game on my laptop. Every time i try to launch it via steam, or directly by .exe file in the games folder I get a pop up window saying:
The following components are required to run this application: DirectX Runtime.
The issue exists only on my laptop, which has ryzen 9 7845HX, RTX 4060 and 16Gb DDR5 RAM. Other games run perfectly fine without any issues. On my PC with ryzen7 5800x, 3070ti and 32 GB DDR4 RAM I haven't had a single issue with the game, it runs perfectly fine without any errors. Both gadgets are running win 11 pro, nVidia drivers are up to date as well.
So far, I've tried:
  1. Downloading and isntalling DirectX Runtime Web Installer from microsoft web site, which ends up alway telling me that a newer version of DirectX is already installed.
  2. Downloaded and installed DirectX Redist (June 2010) which usually helps for older games. It always says it's installing new files, but the end result is still the same - DirectX Runtime error while trying to launch the game.
  3. Disabled my integrated GPU/made sure the games uses my 4060 and laptop runs in performance or turbo mode. No success.
  4. Uninstalled nVidia drivers, performed a clean install of current drivers several times. No success.
  5. Tried to run the game as admin/compatibility mode with older systems. No success.
  6. Verified integrity of the files/Redownloaded the whole game couple of times. Still nothing.
If there are more tech savvy people here, I'd like to hear your advices and hopefully some of them will work, because it feels like i'm the only one with this issue and all the previous methods were supposed to help.

You could try these fixes....

You could try reading. None of those worked.

For anyone encountering this issue, the fix for me was downloading actual directx .dll files and putting them into "Binaries" folder. After that manipulation the issue was resolved and the games started perfectly fine.

Mods, you may close this thread. Thank you.
