I am teaching highschool level students SQL. I am searching for SQL stand-alone software that will run in Windows XP. My goal is quite simple. I want my students to use their PC to create SQL databases, insert rows, update rows, query rows, delete rows.

At this time, I do not need any web interface capabilities

Have you looked at MySQL? This is what I run on XP box. Should do the trick for what you are wanting (besides being free for community edition.)

Tried to find a "free" MYSQL", no luck in initial search. Can you give me any links or clue. Your first reply was encouraging. I'll also be trying some some web queries.

Thanks, Phil
