OK, I just bought a PC for my wife from a local (weird) hobbyist, who would sell it to me for $20 if I didn't ask what hardware it had, or for $50 if I did ask.
I got it for $20.
I'm looking at what I believe is a mini itx sized board that definitely has a regular fm2 chipset, an a6 5400k I think, 8gb ddr3 1866 ram which I bumped up to 2133mhz (g skill something. Red with silver trim), a 500gb hard drive, a nice DVD drive, and a dual band WiFi pcie x16 network card.
I talked to my wife about a CPU/GPU upgrade, suggesting the standard 1050 and an athlon. Well, $100 is apparently absurd to spend on an upgrade, so I came here, to the good people at Toms. I'm going to spend absolutely no more than $75 for now, on a quad core apu. I wanted to ask you guys, what do you recommend? And please for the love of god don't tell me to go Intel or am3+.... I don't have that kind of money.
We don't need i5 6400 performance, but maybe something that could outperform an old LGA 775 quad and a gt540 would be nice. Better is better but I'm not picky. Looking forward to your suggestions!
Thank you for your time.
