Hello everyone. Happy New Year.

Well it's in the title. Around 3ish days ago, my computer starting running really badly when games were running. I've got an MSI GTX 770 which has had no complications so far. I tried to run Geforce Experience to update my drivers but it didn't work, and when I tried to update it, the update would fail. I then tried to install the drivers manually, but again the install failed. When I checked my devices, I saw that the name of the GPU changed to "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". I checked it on CPUID and Speccy and they said the same. So then I Googled the issue and it told me to download DDU so I did all that and tried to update drivers again but it failed again. I tried downloading and installing around 10 legacy drivers and they didn't install either. I moved the GPU to another PCIe slot but same problem. I tried uninstalling my antivirus in case it was messing with the install but nothing. I even broke out the CD that comes with the GPU for the drivers, but even those didn't work.

I'm really stumped and I REALLY hope I don't need to buy another GPU since money isn't something I can throw away right now. Any and all help is requested and appreciated.

Thanks a bunch

Are you installing correct driver version for your OS (32bit or 64bit, whichever is the correct one)?
Did you try driver version from MSI support site? ( older version 355.82 )

Have you reinstalled windows 7 recently? Are all windows updates installed?

My specs are:
Intel i5 4670K 3.4GHz (overclocked to 4.0 GHz)
Gigabyte Z97 Gaming 3 Motherboard
MSI GTX 770
G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Dual Channel RAM
EVGA Supernova 800W Gold PSU
Crucial 240GB SSD
Windows 7 Home Premium

Also, yes the monitor is connected to the GPU and I turned off the iGPU from the BIOS

I'm installing the 64bit ones. I tried the 32bit just for the heck of it but didn't work as expected.

The MSI site version has the same result, failed.

And I haven't reinstalled Windows since the fresh installation, and I have all updates except a select few which I was recommended to remove when I had a previous problem.

I haven't tried it. I will do it tomorrow and give you an update if it works or not.

OK I tried it but I've got this error saying "This operation requires an interactive window station"

I'm not sure what that means exactly :/

Oh and the driver was the one on the CD, I didn't get the downloaded ones to show the same error.

Hi, i also have a similar problem, i have a sony vaio laptop running windows 7 64 bit. i recently reinstalled the os due to a missing operating system problem. after reinstalling , my graphics card, nvidia geforce 8600 gt , doesnt not show in the device manager, and so i uninstalled the standard vga adapter that was present and rebooted, it logs in but after i am confronted with a black, unresponsive screen and and a cursor (which i can move) . thanks in advance.
