Question Stange Chinese character files on my desktop (win11)

I was installing or just installed a free program called yEd on my Win11Pro Thinkpad when about SIX files were noticed on the Desktop (from Explorer) . I right clicked to properties to see what they where and where they came/from, etc. And it was pretty much blank.

Maybe 30 seconds later, they disappeared?!

I did screen capture them before they disappeared, which was lucky.
I pasted the image into google and it seems somewhat gibberish. My Windows is US English, I don't run Chinese language programs.
AVG did NOT pop up with any warnings, and scans = nothing.
AntiSpyware = nothing.
NordVPN's Threat Protection = No Malware issues.

I googled this situation, and pretty much found nothing... that it could have been a corruption in Windows that got sorted out?!

The file icons were plain paper with a bent edge. One had ~~~k.exe, it's icon looked like Windows Control panel.

Thanks for reminding me about Malwareytes.
I just ran a scan. Nothing. All clear.
It's happy with my security at 81%... suggesting I need a VPN, when I am already running NORD.


It would be something is there was a clear answer that "YES, its a virus"... vs, unknown...

It's not a readable Chinese-written file name, and in China we call it “乱码”, which means that it's wrongly encoded.
For example, save a string with UTF8 and deserialize it with GBK will generate confusing result, which is full of these unreadable Chinese-written string. Imagine that you write a program in UTF8 which saves a file called test.txt and the program is executed in a GBK env, then you saw a file: dun3iqdhasuaw2.txt and you are worring about it.
To be honest, there's no direct relation between “乱码” and virus, but virus can disguise itself as a “乱码”ed file. Just use an anti-malware software to scan it.
