It is. He never said anything about it taking an "inkjet cartridge".
The most early dot matrix printers may have used spools like the old
typewriters, but most of them had the ribbon inside a self contained
plastic cartridge. Made replacing the ribbon much easier, and kept it
from drying out as easily.
NEways, according to a couple of supplier sites the LC20 takes the
same black cartridge as these:
Star LC9, LC10, LC20, LC100, LX10, and NX1000
I think Alex might have to go mail order on this, depending on local
availability. I've seen ribbon cartridges for Epsons and Panasonics
in local shops, but Star doesn't seem to be as prevalent.
