in short, feed me money for nothing

we just need swtor to knock wow out of the top and then SCII ignored by the pro leagues to knock blizzard down a little so they'd appreciate their customers.

look at steam's meet the stuff, they are HQ and while not exactly a story, I can see if valve wanted to be greedy to charge for them by adding and reusing scenes to it and make it a "movie"

Once again another prime example of Kotick being a huge Dbag and trying to milk his consumers for all their money. I own almost all of Blizzards games and many of them came with what he is now planning to charge double to triple the going price for a movie ticket.

business assholes like kotick are ruining gaming. the gaming industry is becoming more and more like the movie industry... the big name studios produce hollywood crap while the indie studio are the ones producing movies worth watching. i find myself playing more indie games (and enjoying them more) now than big name dev games

Blizzard has gotten so used to a nice steady incom from WoW that they need to think of something to make money off of after the game stops selling so much.

Its hard to release a game that people only pay once for when you can make random stuff to have them pay for.

The collector edition of SC2 already has that feature, you can play all the cutscenes from the Behind the Scene DVD.

Assumming that they add CGI content/scenes that fills the gaps of the exisitng prerended GCI and story, I could consider buying it. As long as they are comparable to current prices for new releases.

Many of the ingame scenes are actually done with the in game engine. Blizzard could upgrade these scenes to full CGI. Also with purchase of the BR/DVD a code for some cool ingame stuff.

It's not Blizzard. Star Craft 2 is a fantastic game. It's just that Bobby Kotick is a nut.

Give me an hour and I will make the same movie and put it on youtube from the in-game cutscenes......

(well, I wont because I am lazy, but some can!)

lol $20? I think it might sell if it was $2-$3 but $20 for something you probably already paid $50 for? Laughable. I'm sure there's folks right now writing scripts to just play the videos back to back outside of the game.

Sell...lol, has Bobby Kotick ever been on youtube? Does he not know that SC2 can only be played with a net connection? Does he not know that just bout every gamer has a P2P client? I could go on...

Oh you big babies, might as well invoke socialism to make you all happy right? Sounds like to me they would have to make these more complete full feature films where the clips are really put together to tell the whole story.

Plus why are you crying about it anyway? If you don't like it then don't buy it. That's the beauty of capitalism, you as a consumer have a choice. I love the comments about greed, if people buy the product then Blizzard is obviously is making a product consumers want.

So if you start a company and sell a product, is that greed? What if said product becomes a huge success and takes you from rags to riches? Is that greed? Oh your right I should only make middle class income then give the rest to the poor that didn't work hard to make it in this world. Get over it, just because you failed to get rich doesn't mean you have to be jealous at others who worked hard to obtain it.

Well, perhaps if they fill in the time between the cutscenes so that it plays the whole story like a movie, I might pay $10 for it. No way in Hades would I pay $20, though.

and when they don't sell well... what they don't include the cutscenes and make us buy a seprate dvd and tell us when to press play.. offring an integration program to conveniently load the clips for another 10 bucks without the need to press play? ...

where does it stop?

In related news, Blizzard employees collectively take a crap in a box while Activision watches and sells it to hundreds of fan boys for the low price of 60 dollars.

This is ridiculous. If this happens, they are going to hold back content for it to be exclusive to the movie and to sell more movies. I happen to like watching the story unfold and that's a big part of the enjoyment of a campaign mode.

This is like micro-transactions where things that used to be free are now being used to nickle and dime us. I refuse support the subscription pay model for video games and I will refuse to support any games that follow this model.

This is totally stupid... greed and plain stupid. And this guy is a CEO and makes millions coming up with stupid ideas? *I* should have his job.

As stated, theres a version of the game that has that features.

At best, the deal to offer is $5 for 720p DL content. That's it. You can buy DVDs for about $5~15 and BluRay for $10~30.

At $5, they may sell 1 million downloads. At $30, maybe 1 thousand downloads.
Not even close to some crap Transformers movie or a good summer block buster.

Well, would these cutscenes actually add up to a decent movie? Without holes in the story? If so, I'd see it. I know nothing of the SC franchise, and do not plan on playing the games. But $20-30 typically gets me two tickets, popcorn and drinks at a theater. Let's see how a movie critic reviews this ...
