The Henchman is a late game character which you can only see if you do a specific quest. That quest is the “Goblin Problem”. You need to deal with him if you want to progress in the game. The Henchman plays a very small role in the game. He is only seen because of the quest and only exists to stand in your way. Since he is such a small character, he cannot receive any personal gifts. You cannot increase your relationship level with him in any way and he does not show up in the hearts tab.
Henchman’s Schedule:
The Henchman always stays in front of the Witch’s Hut guarding it from people but that is until you persuade him to move, after that he stands to the side and lets you through. He cannot be seen anywhere else in Stardew Valley except for in front of the Witch’s Hut.
Henchman’s Quest:
The only time that the Henchman is involved in a quest is when the Wizard asks you to visit the Witch’s Hut to retrieve the Magic Ink which is kept in the Dark Shrines. When you first go to the Henchman he will tell you that he cannot let you through. To get through him you will need to bribe him. There is a little-known fact that all monsters have a special love for Void Mayonnaise. You find this part out when you collect the relevant Lost Book. After you get the book you can go to the Museum and read about what Goblins like.
Therefore what you need to do is to get a void egg, which you can get from a void chicken, and put that egg in a mayonnaise machine. That will give you one bottle of Mayonnaise which you can use to get past the Goblin. Once you are past the Goblin you can get the Magic Ink and deliver it to the Wizard. After you deliver the Magic Ink to the Wizard he will unlock four new Wizard buildings on your farm which really helps you to earn a lot of money and upgrade your farm to look as cool as possible.
The Henchman is a really small character and it won’t matter if you forget him because there are only two dialogues available with him. You just need to keep in mind that he won’t let you through without the Void Mayonnaise and to get the chicken you need you to have to wait for a random event which can only happen once a year. A witch will fly over the coop and put a void egg inside the chicken coop.
Keep in mind that you will need an upgraded coop as the egg needs to be incubated to spawn the chicken. You can make mayo from that single egg but it is more prudent to get a chicken first as it provides a steady source of Void Eggs.
