Start button and Charms not working

Can someone please help me on this issue. My start button and charms are not working. It all started when I put the computer to sleep and hen it just randomly happened. I've tried to restart the explore.exe file it restarted but now I can't even use keyboard shortcuts to access it. Please someone help me with this issue as it is really annoying.

You should try restarting the system entirely. If the issue persists after reboot, follow the instructions in your computer manual to access safe mode and check for system corruption using sfc /scannow in an administrator command prompt.
