Start fresh or upgrade

I got 2 DDr3 2gb pc3-12800 1600mhz Patriot memory sticks that are the viper2 sector 5 brand and im looking to get 4 more GB, i got these 2-3 years ago. would it be worth while to buy 2 more sticks? and do they have to match exactly or should i just start fresh and get 4 sticks or 2GB or 2 of 4GB

Check here for RAM compatability.
Buy 2X2GB of the closest match you can find, voltage, timing. If they work, fine. If not, buy 2 more.

Some small upgrades depending, and a cpu overclock is all you need IMO. When adding ram you want to try to use the same type, that way voltage,frequency, and timings all match. That will make for a more stable build and less potential headaches.

If you can find 2 more sticks cheap enough, I would go for that. If not 8gb of new stuff and maybe sell the old on ebay. That will make for a cheap upgrade. Then it's really the graphics card, and that depends on the games and resolution you're using. In most cases the 5850 is still a powerful enough card.
